This one-hour wānanga will introduce GIS mapping technology for those working in Māori groups, projects and trusts (and is a follow-up to our 15 March “How can GIS help my hapū?” session). It provides a foundational understanding of how these tools can be employed to uphold the principles of kaitiakitanga (guardianship), reinforcing the connections of whakapapa, and relationship with the whenua.

Our objective is to provide the skills and knowledge necessary for effectively using GIS technology to support Māori interests in storytelling, land management, and environmental monitoring and many other kaupapa.
